US stocks likely to open higher

FXStreet (Mumbai) - The action in the US index futures indicates the Wall street is likely to open on a positive note today after ending the previous session in the red.

At the time of writing, the DJIA futures traded 0.14% higher at 17,780.50, while the S&P 500 futures traded 0.13% higher at 2053.45 levels. Meanwhile, NASDAQ futures traded are up 0.20% at 4294.90 levels. The possibility of a positive start is also indicated by the VIX futures, which are trading 1.61% lower at 15.33 levels.

Markets may also benefit from the rumors that the People’s Bank of China may reduce the bank’s reserve requirement after it cut the benchmark interest rate last month. In the meantime, the commerce department is scheduled to release a report on US construction spending in the last month.

Earlier today, the Asian markets edged slightly higher. Nikkei Index rose by 0.4%, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index jumped by 1.2%. In Europe, the equity markets have put-on a mixed performance. The German Dax Index has edged down by 0.1%, while the London’s Ftse has surged by 1.1%.

USD/CHF jumps to 0.9700 but watch out options at NY cut today

The USD/CHF extended its rally from the 0.9650 area to test the highest price since November 24 at 0.9705. However the pair found selling interest at this level and it's trading back at 0.9685.
