Dow Jones recovers from intra-day lows and turns flat

US stocks are little changed on a typical Monday trading with limited price action moves across financial markets. The Dow Jones is up marginally 0.02% at 18,555. It managed to recover after falling at the beginning of the session to 18,476. The other US stocks indexes were also little change. The Nasdaq was losing 0.02% and the S&P 500 was up 0.01%.

In Europe, markets finished mixed. The FTSE 100 lost 0.44%, the DAX declined 0.47% and the IBEX 35 rose 0.21%. Most indexes were in positive territory most of the day but the decline in crude oil prices weakened the demand for equities. The WTI barrel was losing almost 3%, trimming part of last week gains.

In the US the main event for traders during the week will be the Jackson Hole symposium, where Janet Yellen will be a key speaker. Federal Reserve expectations about rate hikes continue to be a strong driver of prices across financial markets.

During the weekend, Federal Reserve Vice Chairman Stanley Fischer, said that the central bank is near its inflation and employment targets, signaling that rate hikes during 2016 are still on the table. The statement favored the US dollar and weaned stocks at the beginning of the week, but greenback failed to hold to gains.
