ECB's Lautenschlaeger: Bond buying not seen near future
FXStreet (Bali) - European Central Bank executive board member Sabine Lautenschlaeger, speaking to German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung, said that he does not see the ECB embarking on bond-buying in the near future, Reuters reports.
Sabine expanded: “I absolutely do not see the purchase of government bonds on the horizon”, adding that the purchases of bonds would only be viable on extraordinary risks, saying “I really don’t see that right now”. Sabine also reiterated her criticism towards the ECB’s Outright Monetary Transaction (OMT) programme (still inactive).
