UK PM Johnson: Will have to take steps unless we see progress on N. Ireland protocol

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Wednesday that unless they see progress on the Northern Ireland protocol, they will have to take steps to make sure post-Brexit trade between Britain and N. Ireland is uninterrupted, as reported by Reuters.

 "I can say that unless we see progress on the implementation of the protocol, which I think is currently totally disproportionate, then we will have to take necessary steps," Johnson told parliament.

Market reaction

These comments don't seem to be having a significant impact on the British pound's performance against its rivals. As of writing, the GBP/USD pair was up 0.25% on a daily basis at 1.4115.
